KFM’s Beds Service is a finalist in HSJ Partnership Awards 2022

KFM and Medstrom have been announced as finalists in the HSJ Partnership Awards 2022 for implementation of the new beds roll-out at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Denmark Hill.

The KFM Beds and Equipment Service, working in partnership with Medstrom, provided 612 new beds, across 43 hospital wards in just eight weeks.

KFM’s £2.6 million investment allowed the replacement of 612 beds, dynamic pressure relieving mattresses, cots, birthing beds and bariatric equipment at King’s College Hospital in Denmark Hill by end of July 2021.

The roll-out received positive feedback from King’s staff about ‘minimal disruption’ to busy wards and was achieved against the backdrop of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Jo Jones, Director of Managed Services at KFM, said: “The scale of what was achieved within the tight timescale is a testament to the planning, organisation, commitment and passion of all those involved and the expertise they brought. I’m incredibly proud of the work the KFM team did to plan and manage the implementation and the invaluable guidance, expertise and support our Nursing, Estates and Housekeeping colleagues provided. Medstrom’s expertise is invaluable and alongside our Bed and Equipment Team ensured minimal disruption to patient care.”

Rachel Apsey, Commercial Director at Medstrom, commented: “Our collaboration and partnership with KFM and King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has grown, developed and proven extremely positive. I’m delighted to see the products, training and service support we provide benefit both staff and patients, enabling delivery of the very best patient care.”

Judging will take place on 14 Feb.
