KFM Pledge their Support to Step into Health

KFM are proud to support the Step into Health programme, which provides a dedicated pathway for the Armed Forces community to transition to a new career within the NHS.

KFM recognises the value of attracting talent from all walks of life and how this can positively impact our service delivery and customer care.

In line with our commitment to build a diverse workforce, expand our recruitment pools and provide innovative career pathways, we have pledged our support for Step into Health and to working with the armed forces community to offer career and development opportunities for service leavers, veterans and their families within KFM.

As part of our commitment we have pledged to:

  • Review our recruitment practices to ensure we remove any recruitment barriers for members of the Armed Forces community

  • Offer bespoke work placements and advertise relevant permanent vacancies with Step into Health and encourage service leavers, veterans and their families to apply

  • Provide support for service leavers and veterans who have additional needs

  • Partner with NHS organisations in London to share best practice and make efficient use of resource.

The Step into Health initiative is another great example of KFM's commitment to working with our local communities and supporting sustainability.

Gavin Jones, former British Army Warrant Officer and Head of Governance, Risk & Compliance at KFM said:

"Shortly before I retired from the British Army in 2016, I completed a three-week voluntary work placement at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS FT, thanks to the Step into Health Programme.

It was a fantastic opportunity to understand how my skills, leadership style and sense of humour(!) might transfer to a healthcare environment. Fortunately for me, they offered me a position. It was comforting to know that I had employment to walk in to, following a lifetime in the forces.

Since my own opportunity back then, I have become a firm advocate for the Programme and am excited to support it's roll-out across KFM."
