Outpatient Pharmacy: for Clinicians

KFM manages the Outpatient Pharmacy service at Denmark Hill, on behalf of King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The Outpatient Pharmacy dispenses prescriptions to all outpatient clinics at the Trust, which are either received electronically via EPMA or by handwritten prescriptions from clinicians.

Please note: The Outpatient Pharmacy service does not have the authorisation to dispense FP10 prescriptions (green prescriptions) - These prescriptions should be filled by a community pharmacy. Also, any medication that needs to be administered on site cannot be dispensed by the Outpatient Pharmacy team and will continue to be supplied from the Inpatient Pharmacy.

Clinics can now access a dedicated porter assigned to Outpatient Pharmacy to help facilitate the processing of prescriptions for those patients who are vulnerable or immobile.

Clinicians are able to request a porter to pick up a prescription on behalf of a patient. However, when returning to the clinic with the filled prescription, the porter must not hand medication directly to the patient. Prescribed medication must be handed back to the clinicians in the first instance, who will then consult with patients, before handing over the medication.
