On 25 November 2024, KFM's Critical Care Technologists hosted the highly anticipated Critical Care Technologist Study Event, at the Fetal Medicine Research Institute, in London.

This educational day brought together healthcare professionals, expert technologists, nurses, and engineers to showcase cutting-edge medical devices and products designed to enhance patient care and improve clinical outcomes.

The day demonstrated the incredible work being done in critical care and left attendees inspired and excited for future events! Through practical workshops, engaging presentations, and hands-on sessions, participants gained valuable insights into the latest medical technologies and the key role they play in improving care at King’s.

Highlights of the day included insightful talks by industry experts, with Edward Lifesciences exploring hemodynamic monitoring in modern ICUs and Verathon UK sharing valuable knowledge on managing difficult airways effectively. Attendees also had the opportunity to tour King’s Critical Care units, gaining a closer understanding of the environment and equipment in use. Additionally, interactive workshops led by suppliers offered hands-on demonstrations of groundbreaking medical devices, providing practical insights into their role in advancing critical care.

Other key suppliers, including Aerogen, Dräger, Hamilton Medical, and Getinge, made valuable contributions to the event by showcasing innovative devices and sharing their expertise. Their interactive stands featured live demonstrations of the devices in action, offering attendees the opportunity to get involved, ask questions, and gain hands-on experience.

Veronica Prego, Senior Critical Care Technologist, said: "Our goal was to deliver a unique, inspiring and enjoyable learning and networking opportunity for healthcare and critical care professionals across London and beyond, by showcasing the latest innovations and advancements in critical care technology to enhance patient care. The dedication and collaboration of our multidisciplinary teams, sponsors, and the KFM Marketing & Communications team were instrumental in making this event such a success. Special thanks to my manager, Dave, whose unwavering support, and Muggie, whose enthusiasm and expertise, helped elevate the event beyond expectations. Seeing attendees fully engaged in hands-on experiences, interactive talks, and discussions reaffirmed the importance of sharing knowledge to enhance patient care. Events like this fully embrace the ethos of “sharing is caring”, promoting a deeper understanding of advanced technologies and best practice in critical care.
